About Us
African Aid International is a non profit, non governmental organization that seeks to alleviate poverty in the rural communities in
Ghana. Our goal is to utilize and harness the potentials embedded in the rural communities to effect change while providing
shelter and basic supplies. We believe that this strategy will empower rural communities to be dependent on themselves instead
of relying on outside help.

Programs and Projects
(1) Food Distribution
The towns and villages in the area are surrounded by farms that produce too little to feed the inhabitants. During the
dry season, farmers are unable to plant their crops due to harsh environmental conditions. AAI has programs in place to solicit
and donate food for those who are unable to feed themselves due to poverty. The organization relies on volunteers in the area
to assist in its food distribution efforts.
(2) Shelter for the Poor
Our "Shelter for the Poor" projects focus on assisting rural communities to build their own houses. We work closely with
a team of volunteers that include brick layers, carpenters and masons in the area to build houses for the poor. We also donate
housing materials for those who want to build their houses without assistance from our team of volunteers.
(3) Mother’s Assistance Program
In most Ghanaian societies, the husband is the bread winner. If he becomes sick or dies, the woman is left to cater for
the rest of the family. In such cases, getting ahead is difficult especially for the poor who have no income to fall on. The
Mother’s Assistance Program addresses this problem by teaching these mothers and widows practical skills like tailoring,
knitting, basket weaving and basic food processing. Upon completion of their training, AAI provides them with micro credit
finance so that they can start income generating businesses on their own.
(4) Clothing and Furniture Assistance
The objective of this program is to donate clothing and furniture to people in the area who are unable to purchase these
items due to poverty. We also provide money for those who would like to purchase their own clothing and furniture. AAI is
currently instituting a program to donate clothing for children during Christmas time.
(5) Tools for Development
We have noted that most of the skilled tradesmen in the area (carpenters, mason, brick layers, and craftsmen)
are unemployed and poor because they do not have the money to buy the necessary tools and equipment that will help them make
a living. AAI provides assistance in the form of money and tool donations for skilled tradesmen.
